TELP Graduates 2022

It has been an incredible gift to have been part of TELP this past year. The opportunity to learn alongside truly remarkable leaders across the globe and locally here within British Columbia provided me with deep connections, thoughtful reflections, and inspiration for guided next steps in my journey as a leader and learner in education.

Thank you Linda and Judy for this wonderful learning journey. The deep conversations with our diverse group of passionate educators coupled with the case studies from leaders who have shown courage and strength in their leadership has been inspirational. I find myself thinking more purposeful about leadership, equity and inclusion. Thank you!

I want to say thank you Judy and Linda, for creating this program. The readings, speakers and sessions were so thoughtfully laid out. You tactfully wove together stories, research and speakers and provided us with the tools, space, time and support to figure out how to use these gifts to become transformative leaders.

The Transformational Educational Leadership Program was a powerful experience and has opened my mind to many different ideas, thoughts, leadership styles and educational reforms. I found that learning with leaders in many different roles from other districts in BC, other provinces and other countries was unique and rich.

TELP was an amazing experience. Learning alongside colleagues from around the province, tackling the most current, complex issues in education, was inspiring. I appreciated the structure of the program, from the reading group check-ins to the leadership case studies, to the topical discussions and presentations. Thank you, Judy and Linda!

It was interesting to get perspectives from all over the province. We had a chance to share experiences and listen to different points of view. I really appreciated our smaller reading group meetings, when we could discuss the readings and listen to everybody else's take on it. TELP has broadened my skills and pushed me to do more as a leader.

I was appreciative of the extent to which an effort was made to provide researched based, often local, always relevant, and timely literature for us to read. Having a reading group that was expertly facilitated was a highlight. The guests were motivating. I felt that the variety accounted for a breadth of experiences and knowledge being shared.

It was a wonderful experience. The speakers, the readings, the gift of time spent with Jo Chrona and my reading groups, the program was very useful and invigorating. Would definitely recommend it to colleagues.

TELP has been a transformative experience and one that I am grateful I could be part of. The collaboration and collective sharing from TELP colleagues, speakers and the TELP leaders, Linda and Judy have inspired me as a leader. The readings and discussions have been rich. I am so excited for my own personal leadership work in the future.

TELP has taught me so much about leadership, learning, compassion, and Indigenous values and truth and reconciliation. As I transition back into the classroom as a teacher at Foundations for the Future Charter Academy in Calgary Alberta, I will bring a rich repertoire of knowledge and learning to support my school and it's students.

I really enjoyed this past year; thank you. The readings helped put words to feelings I have had around education. I feel inspired to know that so much research has been done to improve education. I look forward to contributing to an equitable education system and to growing myself. Thank you for this opportunity to participate in TELP.

What an incredible year of learning, connection and growing as an educational leader. The TELP program provides rich, timely and impactful learning through readings, speakers and Judy and Linda. The conversations are powerful and have provided myself with new perspectives and learning that can be put in to practice in schools immediately.

Wow, what an amazing experience. I feel that my spirit and passion for leadership has been reignited. I feel so grateful to have been given the opportunity to connect with such an amazing, open, and compassionate group of leaders. I found the topics presented in TELP to be very relevant to my job and setting. Meeting educational leaders from around the world gave me perspective on how different places can grapple with the same issues but in different ways. TELP has left me excited for the new school year and eager to be an agent of change.

TELP was a wonderful opportunity to engage with educators around our province and the Yukon Territory. Delving into the research around systems level thinking, reflecting and discussing in reading groups, and building connections with colleagues are the underpinnings of this powerful, transformational learning.

I appreciated the curated readings, the engaging speakers, and the discussion groups where I found connection and conversation and community. I consider TELP a multi-year program. The first year you’re immersed in the learning. The following years you’re reflecting and returning to the ideas in recursive ways.

Truly an insightful experience into bringing about leadership change at the school, network/district and community level. I particularly found of benefit the collaborative nature if the course and opportunities for collegial sharing. Linda and Judy were wonderful facilitators, very personable and knowledgeable.

TELP came into my life at the right time. I felt a need to stretch myself as a professional and TELP created both the time and space for that to happen. The carefully selected readings, the living case studies and, of course, the absolute brilliance of Judy and Linda have helped inspire me in taking the next steps in my professional journey.

To say TELP has been inspiring is an understatement! The leaders, speakers, readings, reading groups, and connections have been pivotal in developing who I am as an educational leader today and the leader I will strive to become. I am very grateful to have had this learning opportunity!

I loved listening to the case studies -hearing the stories of people's journeys. The follow up talks were inspiring. Reading groups were also a good way to connect and share our thoughts - and keep me on track with the readings. I found my enjoyment of the readings ebbed and flowed, depending on how busy I was with work. I saved readings for later

TELP has provided me opportunities to learn and reflect on my leadership practices. It has solidified my belief in how important a role we have in supporting our most vulnerable students, and given me the tools to further develop my skills in helping all students thrive and flourish in whatever they do.

My hope for building trusted relationships and collective capacity for inquiry and engagement between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Peoples is stronger. As a result of being part of the TELP learning journey, my distinctive intentions, roles and accountabilities in my reconciliACTION efforts are reaffirmed.

An incredible journey- full of personal growth and meaningful networking. This course was a very effective way to laser-focus my efforts and discover the current research to support my wacky ideas.

My year with TELP was my most important professional development experience, ever. Every step was carefully crafted to ensure maximum exposure to very high quality current research and thinking, maximum connection to colleagues and purposeful reflection that is grounded in your own context. I walked away with synapses firing and nerves tingling!

The TELP program has been a powerful professional learning experience. I've appreciated how the thought-provoking guest speakers, current research articles, and lively discussions have pushed my thinking, influenced my work, and allowed me to grow as an educational leader. My time with TELP has been invaluable as a new Superintendent. I had a year of exceptional learning from renowned educational leaders, expansive current research, and from the most caring and committed cohort imaginable. As I look towards next year, I feel inspired and excited to do brave work with an open heart and a curious mind.

TELP has provided space for connections and collaboration. The reading groups were my absolute favorite! They provided space to really build connections with BC colleagues that extended outside the program. I appreciated the wide range of speakers and the readings and have used many readings to support staff within my unit. Thank you!

Learning alongside educators from across the province has helped to reignite forward thinking and action planning as we emerge through the pandemic. Judy and Linda provided strategic feedback for deep learning and curated an incredible wealth of resources that were thought provoking and inspired next steps for school and system change planning.

The TELP program was a tremendous opportunity for me to connect with some truly inspiring leaders from BC and the Yukon. This program offers contemporary research and inspirational speakers that challenge the status quo in education, elevate the profile and importance of Indigenous knowledge and pedagogies, and paint visionary pictures of the future. TELP has helped me step into brave directions in my district role and act on challenges where change is needed.

It was a truly transformational experience. Deep connections, lots of compassion, RICH learning based on very current research and authentic networking that will strengthen my practice in my setting. I recommend this program to anyone, formal or informal leaders, who seek to improve outcomes for learners! OUTSTANDING!

I first heard about TELP a number of years ago and have wanted to do it ever since. It was a true gift from my employer to enable me to do it this year. It was absolutely worth it! I found the combination of readings, the weekends and my reading (and not-reading) group were powerful learning opportunities. It was a year of powerful reflection!

TELP provided current brilliant systems thinking from educators around the world through readings and case studies. Connecting with leaders from around BC and the YT to share common problems of practice and learn from each other was powerful. We've been given a platform to launch ourselves into transformative leadership work.

For me TELP provided an outstanding opportunity to reflect upon my values and beliefs. It led me to consider new readings that ensure I will continue working with an equity mindset. Some of my more powerful learning derived from small group conversations where individuals shared their perspective on a series of readings or a live presentation.

It can be hard to step back from the work we do and connect with the big picture. TELP was an opportunity for me to better see the leverage points within the systems I work in. I came out with better honed vision of what my leadership can look like, supported by research and proven strategies.

The TELP program has been an amazing experience. I have found myself inspired and motivated by the content, leadership speaker's series, participants, Judy, Linda, and their amazing team. One of the biggest take-aways I had was the time spent and invested in making connections and relationships with each other. Take this program!

This was, by far, one of my most enjoyable courses!!! The guest presenters were skilled, knowledgeable, and engaging. As was the facilitation and guidance from Judy and Linda. I also enjoyed the readings and the opportunity to connect via Reading Groups to discuss our insights and queries. I was inspired and invigorated after every class!

I am grateful for the deep learning, readings and discussions that have come from my TELP experience. Having Judy and Linda as learning guides only makes the experience that much more memorable. If story shapes the meaning of things, then the journey through TELP this year has brought much meaning and transformation to my educational journey.

This is a wonderful program and very timely at any point in a career involving leadership in learning. The readings and case studies are engaging and provide rich learning. Reflections and the presentation are tailored to our individual context and are intended to guide our way on our continued collective course to education system change.

I really appreciated the opportunity to work with colleagues around the province. We were sad to miss the in person opportunities and the deeper connections that those bring. The ongoing conversations and access to current readings helped me be accountable to my own professional development goals.

I am grateful that I was part of TELP this particular COVID year. It gave a bigger picture and vision of what is needed from leaders and from schools in this time. It gave me direction in my leadership and inspiration to step-up. I very much enjoyed the readings and introductions to key academic and change thinkers of our time.

Thank you for this experience. It has helped me examine my career path and how I fit into both the smaller and larger systems in which I live and work. I have deeply appreciated learning from and reflecting with experts, exploring a variety of articles and professional texts and meeting with like minded individuals.

The TELP program was a wonderful opportunity to discuss and consider many key ideas around educational change with other educational leaders from around the province. Judy and Linda sparked great conversations around our current education system and where we want to take it in the future, and the guest speakers were inspiring.

TELP has been an amazing boost to my professional and personal journey. TELP opened a window and introduced me to likeminded educationalists from across the globe. It threw accelerant on the flame of leading change in schools and broadened my perspective on life.

TELP has re-engaged with me with my own professional learning. It has been the right balance of rigor and appreciation of our busy work and personal lives. Speakers have been inspiring and the readings outstanding.

Being a part of TELP has inspired me to grow in new directions and explore my vulnerability. It created space for me to focus more on the importance of equity, inclusion, and diversity. The TELP program is so much more than a university program, it gets to the heart of you as a human being. The leaders of this program model best practices which allows us to achieve the best possible outcomes to move forward and spread the impact with others! A truly transformative program!!!

I genuinely enjoyed the opportunity to connect with like minded individuals. Linda and Judy did an excellent job facilitating thought provoking discussion and collecting readings that helped us to stretch our learning in ways we may not have been able to otherwise. I also loved the inspiring leadership keynotes every session!

TELP has been a transformational learning journey. All the practices I believed in and guided my work is now rooted in theory, and evidence based critical research and work. In addition to the rich readings, I was also humbled to listen to the leadership journeys of the presenters and learn from the deep experience of my TELP cohort.

TELP has inspired, connected and pushed me to think about leadership in different ways. Judy and Linda created time and space to think, share, and network and constantly bring leadership back to the students and equity. How can we, as leaders, be better and reach every student that crosses our paths?

Thank you so much for the opportunity to unlearn and learn to so I am able to make a difference for our learners and their learning. TELP made a difference in my practice as a leader, I will go forward and take brave action with renewed passion to create equity for all of our learners.
